The Alfanges Estate or ?Herdade dos Alfanges? as it is known in Portugal, boasts a manor house set in 90 hectares of mature Iberian cork oaks and olive trees, all of which are native to the Alentejo. The Herdade dos Alfanges is a very special vacation home that combines the best of modern living whilst keeping the old alive. The house is white washed, has the traditional thick walls to keep it cool and many period features of interest. On the other hand the bathrooms are fantastic, the water works, the kitchen is fully equipped, the sitting room comfortable and the setting of the garden a dream.
The estate is a working farm. Besides farming the olives and the cork, the main source of income is the milk produced by Murciana goats which is used to make cheese locally. There is also an organic kitchen garden, an orange grove and the most wonderful truly fresh eggs to which our guests have free access.
